2010 NOAH Tennis Try Outs - October 19 - 22

NOAH will conduct tennis team tryouts for Spring 2010 High School and Junior High tennis at Benedict Park (12th and Utica Ave) near Hillcrest Hospital.  Junior High (up through 8t graders) will try out on October 19 - 20, 4 to 6 PM.  High School students will try out on October 21- 22, 4 to 6 PM.  We expect to field both a varsity and junior varsity teams. There will be a $5 charge to cover costs such as tennis balls and etc.  Please plan to arrive 30 minutes early such that we are able to begin at 4 PM.

  Our home courts are Benedict Park, 1620 E. 12th Street. All competitions are open for spectators free of charge.  Feel free to come and encourage the NOAH Jaguars!

NOAH offers spring, summer and fall tennis programs with our spring teams being our most competitive.  In the spring we play against local public and private schools in the months of March through mid May. To this end our try outs will use United States Tennis Association, USTA, grading standard of Level 2.5 as our benchmark.  Below is the definition from USTA;

A 2.5 Player is able to judge where the ball is going. Player can sustain a slow pace rally of several shots with someone of the same ability using both forehand and backhand sides and can volley with moderate success.  Player can keep score unassisted, can call own lines, can serve overhand from the baseline and has a basic understanding of the rules.

If your student is at this level of play they are encouraged to come to the try outs.  If you student is below this level you are encouraged to work with you student independently and then participate in NOAH's summer and fall programs to get them prepared to play tennis at this USTA level.  Our summer and fall programs are more developmental and will provide your student with the best opportunity to succeed at tennis.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP to me at ted.cooper@williams.com  by 10/15 so that we will know how many will be attending.   Of course, your student will need a racket and tennis shoes as well as some water.
